Energy and Sound
This past week, we all noticed that the moon was full on Tuesday night. Some people I know were absolutely feeling the high strung emotional energy that accompanies this phase. Did it matter that the moon is going into the astrological water sign Aquarius? I would say yes, as a Scorpio and a fellow water sign – always knowing that emotions are a driving force in 99% of my decisions.
People want to know about the Moon and what it means when it is full and because I am constantly teaching I am working on being ready to be able to describe it in a way that helps the ones that truly want to know, because the more they can understand how to help themselves, the happier they will be. That is the goal, right? In the end we all are just trying to feel happy, safe and loved. Especially for ourselves so we can be the best versions of ourselves possible and then, in turn, be that for the people that matter most to us.
Sully Erna, the Musician
Last weekend, before the full moon, I drove up to the Mohegan Sun Arena to meet my lovely friend who had come all the way from Massachusetts to see this concert with me. As we sat waiting, I felt that familiar saddening of “Okay, now here we are and this night and event are happening and so quickly they pass by into memory.” It seems so long ago now that we met this performer in person in New Hampshire. We have pictures of us with this man whom we both admire as a singer/songwriter.
In the beginning of that concert and the beginning of this one, they showed a familiar little segment that I remember from the last concert. I remember something like how music is energy, and how it affects us with its powerful vibrations, channeling our emotions into tangible art. You can attest to this truth by recalling your favorite songs or music.
What does this have to do with Moon Jars? Well, it’s about the energy that we call into our lives and how we use it. Currently, I am using mine to work on a painting that needs my attention.
I just finished the book “The Attractor Factor” and an enormous part of being successful is feeling successful. How would you go about feeling successful if you didn’t already? And what about the Moon and its phases? As I said in the beginning of this blog – people were feeling the effects of the moon. Doesn’t it go to show that feelings are everything? Feelings cause us to pursue the many things that we go after and influence our decisions in so many ways. When the moon is changing its phases, so are we. We can see what our energy levels are like if we are paying attention. We can know that when the moon is full we may be sadder or more impulsive. We can know that we want to change something because of how it makes us feel. We can also track what our progress or lack of progress is. For instance, this is the promise I made on the New Moon, to write this blog no matter what. That was the promise I made because I believe in what I am doing and how it can help others to reach goals, also.
So before I go for now, I wanted to share a video that is a great example of how music as energy is a power and force all its own.
And I am setting goals as the Moon turns her face away from us and time ticks on and on.
Crystals and Gemstones
I found this image on Pinterest, as I find so many of the images that I love. I have been collecting stones and crystals since I was 18 and my first stone was a tiger’s eye. It is a small stone that has traveled with me up and down the East Coast and I always remember the day I picked it up.
So many years later, I am still collecting stones and crystals. I have had them mailed to me from England, picked up some in Vermont, and recently at the street faire in New York. I have ordered them online, and bought them many places in Connecticut over the years.
When I was being taught Reiki, I was so amazed at the way they were going to be used for healing and in grids. I was happy to know that my collection would be of great help to me and I have used many of them in the Reiki sessions I have already done for several people.
I know that adding them to the Moon Jars is a special touch that I can share with the new owner – to hold the same crystal or stone that I had held, in meditation while understanding the specific and basic qualities of a certain stone and also adding the energy of the symbols that I have learned as a fifth level practitioner. I really do love adding that special part to my works of art and craft.
Now the Full Moon is 100% full at 6:57 pm TOMORROW NIGHT and it is the perfect time to set up an intention for yourself for the next two weeks, something you want to do or not do. Sit with moon for five minutes. Ask yourself the question. What do you want to change, for good or bad? I, for one, want to create a better blog post for Mondays by being better prepared because there are things that I have learned that I want to share and I am happy to do it here when I know my little tribe of readers is reading!
I also wanted to take the opportunity to share the artwork parchments that I have created for the specimen known as “Moonstone”. There are three kinds that I am currently aware of:
These are the pages that I researched and hand penned, then painted in 2011. They are currently in my Etsy shop
I have been interested in crystals and stones for so long, and it is my pleasure to be able to start sharing this information and art with you as I continue to develop and improve my hopes and thoughts for these super special pieces of work!
Happy Blessing Moon, the name of this months full Moon.
Until next Monday :)
Beautiful day to write a blog, no sweaty humidity and my forearms are not stuck to the desk!
I hope you all had a great weekend and that you were able to do something you wanted to do. I definitely was able to do something I had been looking forward to for a few months now. I went to New York City with a friend and we walked up and down Astor Place where the 5th Annual Witchfest Pagan Festival was happening from 10 am – 4 pm. So many unique things to see there, and definitely a thought for next year as a participant.
My first purchase was a $3 little glass sphere called opalite. It had a very energetic and magnetic feel to it and I could not put it back down. It resonated very strong for me and I know I have another at home, but this one was as unique as I am.
During the week leading up to the festival, I had traveled five towns away to a shop that sells crystals and stones in search of special ones to add to my meditations with the moon jars that I have just dropped off today with Lib at Hazel Daze. I always think that I have enough, and then something similar happens – I pick up a stone and it “speaks” to me.
As I am learning more everyday about manifestation, magnetizing and attracting what I want and need for my life and in my life so that I can be a better person in general, I realize that I must be prepared for what it is I am working towards. I have learned that you must make room for what you are working towards because you can literally get in your own way, or have so much “stuff” that what you are wishing for just cannot get by it all. The Universe is listening and trying to get you what you are ordering from it yet you block yourself with doubt, fear, holding on and not letting go.
Last Monday was the day I promised I would at least write one blog a week and I am keeping that promise because I have seen that what I am sharing really does work. It doesn’t work overnight. It doesn’t seem like the magick you were taught to comprehend. I can’t just blink my eyes and make $1000.00 appear in my bank account, but I can change the way I save money to get it there in a better way than I used to. I see that every day I must focus that one little bit on it because it DOES and it WILL add up. Whether it is money, energy, a practice, a habit, a viewpoint, a belief, it is all the same. I hear people say, “I can’t meditate. I am not that kind of person.” I hear people say, “I wish I could be positive all the time.” I hear people say a lot of things that I used to say, also.
If I told you I could help you learn to meditate for five minutes a day, would you try it? If I sent out a post like I do on social media – telling you I was going to meditate for the next five minutes would you try to sit and know that somewhere I was sitting and just breathing in and out, just like you. Thinking too many thoughts all at once, just like you. Then learning that the more I did that, the thoughts were passing by like clouds because they cannot be erased or avoided, but they can be observed and let go.
I have a new goal that I have been thinking about for a while, since my schedule is set mostly for the same work hours every week. I have wanted to sweep and mop the first floor of my house and then do a sage cleanse, or something similar, on Mondays. I have wanted to be able to set up the house for a harmonious week and envision that I have cleared the debris and energy from the past week out that is not beneficial for the house or anyone in it. What is really going to motivate me to do that? Should I reward myself? Of course I should, and I believe that it is a multipurpose way of making room for what I want to achieve as well as what I want to feel and create the room I need to have everything else that will support this.
So as the week begins and I am doing what I said I would - I also have been telling myself that getting those jars to Hazel Daze must happen today - and they did! Have a good week, my little tribe of truly like minded souls...See you next Monday!
Moon Day...New Moon 7:01 a.m.
Moon Day = Monday...where did this come from? Let me do a Google Search.
http://www.crowl.org/lawrence/time/days.htmlMonday -- Moon's day Middle English monday or mone(n)day
Old English mon(an)dæg "day of the moon"
Latin dies lunae "day of the moon"
Ancient Greek hemera selenes "day of the moon"
I have been building up my meditation practice - 20 minutes a day most of the time - and asking lots of questions. I am building patience and today one of my questions was answered. Monday is "Moon Day" and so, Moon Day is for Moon Jar Blogs.
Why did this come to me today? Most likely it is the New Moon and I have been thinking about this a lot. I have edited and remade the Moon Phase calendar and I have been thinking a lot about how I want to share what I know about the Moon, Meditation, and Manifestation.
The Critical Inch
The Critical Inch is something I learned a long time ago a thought meant to figure out a way to gain ground on a goal every single day, no matter how small. Today, this is my critical inch on my goal of being able to produce AT LEAST one blog a week about my beloved projects called Moon Jars.
I created this jar for a wedding gift over the past week and have been focusing in on the littlest details of all things "Moon Jar"... I have promised a few people a few jars and I am ready to start the next project. Only when I remind myself that if I do a little bit every day, the bigger projects get done without the stress of trying to do them all in one shot. You would think that would be "common sense". You would think also, that you are not the kind of person who is meant to successfully meditate. But truly, all of these projects and intentions are sculpted in a concentrated block of time where we focus on basic things while learning to shut down negative self talk so we can allow ourselves to talk to and take care of ourselves in a brief yet powerful way.
Can you promise yourself 5 minutes a day until the Full Moon?
There is no way that you don’t have access to knowing what time it is. You cannot escape calculated time and time going by. If you sat still and breathed with the ticking or passing flashing digital moments of the clock for five minutes every day until the full moon (Tuesday July 19th @ 6:57 pm) what would be the predominant thought that you would have to struggle not to think about?
Moon Jar Owners: write that down on one of those little round papers. Write the date and the moon phase information.
Don’t have a Moon Jar? Write it down on anything and tuck it away somewhere where you can look at it again on the Full Moon.
The main thing, and I write to myself this all the time, is that you are conscious of taking that five minutes. It really is such a short and long amount of time to take to see where you are at in your thoughts and your dominant issues. As the days go by, new things could come up. Write them down and keep them with the others. Get a new journal if you are inspired to do so. You need only to write a few sentences to begin. Pay attention to the highlights and write them on small slips of paper. Add them to the place you are keeping them until the 19th. Come back to this journal to read more about what you can do with them soon...
I am sure that you will find this schedule of the New and Full Moons useful as you read this blog and I update it for the changing of the phases and seasons.
